Spring Cleaning for You, Your Home and the Earth
May 29, 2017
The spring season is such a wonderful time to cleanse every aspect of your life. From your closets to your skin products, purging the old and bringing in the new can be such a satisfying feeling, and a great way to improve your health.
Here at Generate, we’re always looking for new ways to give back to our community and optimize the wellbeing of our members. Whether we’re acting as a pick-up spot for healthy Farm-to-Table meals or donating old clothes to Goodwill, our members can feel good about Generate’s impact on their own health as well as the health of the planet.
Now that spring is in full swing, why not clean out your own space and get rid of anything that isn’t serving you anymore? Toxic beauty products, worn clothing and even old food from the back of your fridge (yuck!) can all be tossed—we promise you’ll feel all the better for it.
Here are a few of our favourite resources to get started on your spring cleaning and make space for a fun-filled summer:
- The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo. This classic read is a great place to start if you’re looking to streamline your home and purge your space of unnecessary clutter.
- Ecoholic by Adria Vasil. Ever wonder what’s really in that aerosol deodorant can? Adria Vasil, a Canadian journalist and eco-friendly expert, will help you purge your space of unwanted toxins and chemicals. Once you rid your home of toxic bath and beauty products, be sure to drop by Generate to pick up some Bloom Botanicals body lotion. It’s full of organic ingredients like aloe and camellia, plus it’s currently on sale for $15 each or $50 for a four pack (available for purchase at the front desk, use promo code BLOOM).
- Think Dirty app. The Environmental Working Group researches body care and home products and rates them on environmental/health toxicity in a very easy to use app. You simply scan your shampoo or laundry soap and voila: healthier choices while shopping!
