Lainie | Nia Instructor

Lainie has danced since she could walk, studying ballet, expressive movement, contact improv, modern and jazz dance. She performed with Village Folk, and is currently a member of the Toronto-based community dance company, PushPULL. Graduated from The Nia Technique body-mind intensive training for professionals in the fitness, health and wellness field. Lainie is a certified Brown Belt Nia teacher, teaching people of all ages, genders, body types and fitness levels.
Lainie received a Master’s degree from The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto in the department of Adult Education, Community Development and Counselling Psychology. Her work there included courses on feminist counselling, women’s health, and adult learning. Lainie’s work experience has included supportive counselling in the areas of reproductive and sexual health. She is a prenatal educator and a doula, and also facilitates support groups for new parents. She sees both her work as a Nia instructor and as a counsellor, as an opportunity to learn more about our lives, our bodies, our relationships, and our ability to be fully ourselves.
